Window Treatments For Custom Needs

Use custom window treatments for privacy and light control, energy efficiency and as an attractive focal point for home decor. Order coverings that fit round, arched, octagon or half circle windows. Pleated fabric or honeycomb cellular shades can be special ordered to fit trapezoids and angles as well as skylights and sliding French doors.

Buy ready made valances or sew your own for the finishing touch. You can also customize a treatment with scarves and swags or an upholstered cornice board in matching or contrasting material.

A custom window treatment can camouflage flaws. For example, to make a small window appear bigger, mount a curtain rod to extend past the width of the glass on either side and hang wide panels. Alternately a large size will seem narrower with custom curtains that have many panels.

Tie back drapes in the middle to look like there are more, smaller windows. Create a taller look by mounting the rod or pole higher than the top of the frame and then allow fabric to hang all the way to the floor.

Designs that run horizontally such as mini blinds or bamboo shades give the appearance of shorter windows. For a bay or corner window choose wooden or faux wood shutters.
