A Simple to Elaborate Window Scarf

A window scarf is a simple and graceful way to dress up any window. Use a single piece of fabric and drape it on a curtain rod or through decorative sconces. You can also drape it over swag holders made from wrought iron, resin or carved wood.

Choose from sheer voile, crushed satin or machine washable polyester fabrics in prints and solid colors. Experiment with draping the scarf to create the look you want. Six or 8 yard lengths are common for valances and may be purchased to coordinate with other fabrics - such as bed linens in the bedroom and upholstery in the living room.

A window scarf can stand alone as a beautiful top treatment, or it can be used along with panels, sheers, shades and blinds. If there is no need for privacy a scarf valance on its own is ideal to frame a view.
